Ambassador Feltman’s work will build on our ongoing efforts to address the urgent crises in Ethiopia, where we continue to urge the immediate withdrawal of Eritrean forces, the cessation of hostilities by all parties, and unimpeded humanitarian access. We also urge leaders of Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan to come together and resolve their disputes around the Grand Ethiopia Renaissance Dam and their shared water resources. The United States is ready to work with our allies and partners to promote shared peace and prosperity across the Horn of Africa.

Over the past three decades, the Horn of Africa has acquired a bad reputation as a notoriously unstable subregion with a highly volatile socio-political framework.
This region can only be described as one at war with itself, owing to a number of issues from tribal and clan dynamics to historical injustices. Therefore, the solution for instability should be sourced from within – as only the insiders can truly understand and contextualise the full extent of their problems.
xinhuanet Africa: Ethiopia reports 1,739 new COVID-19 cases
ADDIS ABABA, April 11 (Xinhua) — Ethiopia registered 1,739 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 227,255 as of Saturday evening, the country’s Ministry of Health said.
According to the ministry, Ethiopia currently has some 55,069 active COVID-19 cases, of which 933 are said to be under severe health conditions.
