Summary

The ongoing conflict in Tigray has left over 2 million people displaced, including Tigrayan refugees seeking safety in neighboring countries. Omna Tigray, a non-profit organization, has launched a fundraising campaign to provide urgent financial, medical, housing, food resources, and resettlement support to Tigrayan refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

This initiative aims to have a significant long-term impact on the lives of Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, promoting the economic development of the region. However, securing adequate resources to continue providing support is challenging, given the extent of the crisis and limited funding. Omna Tigray will work with local organizations to distribute financial assistance effectively and efficiently, support resettlement efforts, conduct research and assessments, and advocate for increased financial support from international organizations and governments. Furthermore, the organization aims to promote local economic initiatives and job creation programs to provide long-term financial stability and independence for the Tigrayan people who have been displaced.

In addition to supporting Tigrayan refugees and IDPs outside of Ethiopia, Omna Tigray will also be providing assistance to Tigrayans who have been displaced and detained within the region and across the country. This includes those who have been forced to flee their homes and are living in temporary shelters or detention centers, as well as those who are still in their communities but facing economic instability and a lack of access to basic necessities.

To address the specific needs of these individuals, Omna Tigray will work closely with local organizations and community leaders to identify the most urgent needs and provide financial assistance for food, housing, medical care, and other basic necessities. The organization will also support advocacy efforts to ensure that those who have been detained are treated fairly and humanely, and work to secure their release when appropriate.

This project aims to have a significant long-term impact on the lives of Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, enabling them to rebuild their lives and regain their dignity.

Challenge:

The Tigrayan conflict has created a severe humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia. As a result, there is a significant need for financial, medical, housing, food resources, and resettlement support for refugees and IDPs. The challenge we face is securing enough resources to continue providing this support. This is particularly difficult as Omna Tigray is a non-profit organization, and the scope of the crisis is vast, with many people requiring assistance. The challenges include:

  • Limited financial resources to provide basic necessities such as food, shelter, and medical care to Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, including those who have been detained throughout Ethiopia.
  • Difficulties in distributing financial assistance effectively and efficiently to those who need it the most.
  • Lack of funding to support resettlement efforts for refugees and IDPs.
  • Economic instability and lack of job opportunities in Tigray and other countries where refugees fled to, contributing to the overall humanitarian crisis.

Solution:

The humanitarian crisis in Tigray has left millions of people displaced and in need of urgent financial assistance for basic necessities such as food, shelter, and medical care. To address this crisis, Omna Tigray is focusing on providing financial assistance to support food resources, housing, resettlement, and medical support. This will be achieved through a fundraising campaign, with funds being used to provide immediate and ongoing financial assistance to Tigrayan refugees and IDPs. Local organizations will be partnered with to distribute financial assistance effectively and efficiently, and resettlement efforts will be supported. Research and assessments will be conducted to better understand the specific financial needs of the Tigrayan people, and advocacy efforts will be made to secure increased financial support from international organizations and governments. Furthermore, Omna Tigray aims to promote the development of local economic initiatives and job creation programs to provide long-term financial stability and independence for the Tigrayan people.

  • Utilize funds raised to provide immediate and ongoing financial assistance to Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, including those who have been detained throughout Ethiopia, focusing on supporting their basic needs.
  • Partner with local organizations to distribute financial assistance effectively and efficiently, ensuring it reaches those in need.
  • Support resettlement efforts for refugees and IDPs through financial assistance to help them rebuild their lives in a new location.
  • Conduct assessments and research to better understand the specific financial needs of Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, and tailor financial assistance accordingly.
  • Advocate for increased financial support from international organizations and governments to address the humanitarian crisis in Tigray.
  • Support local economic initiatives and job creation programs to provide long-term financial stability and independence for the Tigrayan people.

Long-term impact:

The long-term impact of our initiative is to continue providing vital support to refugees and IDPs affected by the Tigrayan conflict. We will work to ensure that those who have been displaced have access to adequate financial, medical, housing, food resources, and resettlement support. This will help to alleviate the immediate suffering caused by the conflict and create a more stable environment that allows for economic development and a brighter future for those affected by the crisis.

  • Provide financial assistance to stabilize the humanitarian crisis in the short term, supporting food resources, housing, resettlement, and medical care for Tigrayan refugees and IDPs.
  • Develop local economic initiatives and job creation programs to provide long-term financial stability and independence for the Tigrayan people.
  • Empower individuals and families to rebuild their lives and communities, fostering resilience and a sense of empowerment.
  • Create a positive impact on the lives of Tigrayan refugees and IDPs, helping them to achieve a better quality of life and greater economic opportunities.
